Sixth form pupils are celebrating after they secured places at top universities and colleges.

Although exams were cancelled this summer due to the COVID-19 pandemic, teachers at the school supported pupils to continue to work towards achieving their dreams.

Throughout sixth form, teachers, parents and staff at the school, all helped pupils work to become the very best they could be. Many of Tong Leadership Academy’s pupils are now looking forward to completing degree courses at prestigious universities across the country.

Hannah Hussain achieved an incredible 3A’s in A Level Biology, Chemistry and Maths along with another A in AS Level Psychology. Hannah will continue her studies at the University of Manchester to study Chemical Engineering. Hannah said:

“I’m in shock! I’m really chuffed with my results. I was a bit nervous this morning but I’m really happy.”

Farah Mahmood is over the moon with her A Level results, achieving an A in Chemistry, A in Psychology and B in Biology. She said:

“I am really shocked and really, really happy. Mr Laher has been really helpful during my time at Tong and inspired me to take Chemistry“. Farah will be joining the University of Leeds to study Chemistry.

Another top set of grades at BTEC for Fatima Haider, who achieved D*, D*, D in Health and Social Care. Fatima is aiming to fulfil her dream of becoming a midwife as she joins the University of Bradford to study Midwifery. Fatima said:

“I was so nervous about the results. I am really proud of myself because all the hard work has paid off.”

Lots of smiles from Aiden Pickersgill and Devin Reed who have achieved fantastic results. The hard work paid off for Aiden who achieved excellent A Level results with a B in Law, B in Maths and C in Chemistry. Aiden has his sights set on studying Law and Business at the University of Leeds. He said:

“I’ve had a wonderful journey in school towards my results. I am really proud of myself and want to thank Mr Laher, who has helped me all the way.”

Devin received his AS Level grades, achieving A in Maths, B in Chemistry and B in Biology. Devin will start his final year at the academy in September and has a clear goal in mind which is to study Biochemistry at the University of York or Bath. He is determined to carry on working hard during Year 13.

Aisha Kauser has been awarded the Frank Hester Scholarship with thanks to Horsforth based company TPP. The scholarship will help to support Aisha throughout her studies at Bradford College where she can’t wait to begin her Teaching and Learning in the Primary Phase degree. Aisha achieved a fantastic D*, D*, D in BTEC Health and Social Care. She said:

“I am really happy and so relieved. My mum is really proud of me because I am the first in my family to go on to study a degree. I am so happy to have been awarded the Frank Hester Scholarship and can’t wait to start studying in September.”

Mark Ellis Commercial Director at TPP said:

“We are absolutely delighted to be supporting Aisha through the Frank Hester Scholarship. Aisha will be the fifth student from Tong Leadership Academy to receive the Scholarship and is a worthy winner. We’re always impressed with the quality of the candidates from Tong and are proud to be continuing our relationship with the Academy.”
